Weetons Leeds Road is our new flagship Weetons store, a premium retail and dining destination on the outskirts of Harrogate. Featuring a newly created home & gift hall (featuring Garden Trading), a high-quality produce food hall with bakery, delicatessen, chef-to-go range and butchers, a well-established horticulture & garden offer as well as a delectable restaurant and cafe.
We are known across the country for our exceptional product offer & dining experience. In addition, we also offer external catering and on-site private & corporate functions, utilising our experienced on-site catering & events team.

The Role
We are seeking a tenacious & customer centric General Manager, (IDEALLY WITH A BLUE-CHIP BACKGROUND) with entrepreneurial flair, who can coach, lead and inspire a high performing team, develop & grow both the retail & hospitality business, across all divisions, whilst ensuring the customer remains at the heart of everything we do.
Skills Required
- PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY CANDIDATE MUST HAVE SIGNIFICANT RETAIL SKILL & EXPERIENCE - hospitality experience alone will not fulfill the role requirements
- Proven commercial success gained within a multi-operational retail environment with a turnover of >£10m per annum
- Exemplary oral & written communication skills, able to converse with all levels of the business including the board team
- Superb organisational and operational leadership skills
- Collaborative management style
- Able to remain calm under pressure, possessing excellent conflict & performance management skills
- Excellent attention to detail, whilst always seeing the bigger picture
- A positive can-do & solution orientated attitude, with the ability to embrace change
- Adept at developing and inspiring teams through coaching and mentoring
- Outstanding customer service approach
Duties & responsibilities
- Overall accountability for the Weetons Leeds Road profit & loss
- Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the site across all divisions: food hall, dining, home & garden, private hire functions and in-house events
- Knowing & understanding the Weetons brand, its customers, suppliers and team, whilst continually being abreast of key competitor activity, and creating new sales opportunities across price, product and/or promotion as relevant
- Working closely with the Managing Director & Marketing Director to create strategies to drive brand awareness and sales opportunities across the local, national & social networks and ecommerce platform
- Providing & inspiring exceptional customer service
- Creating a positive and high performing team culture and recruiting, training and developing staff in partnership with the People Manager
- Embedding expectations for high standards of site presentation at all times
- Ensuring customer service guidelines are clear and embedded in all staff KPI’s
- Ensuring that all staff and customers are safe, and all food policies and health & safety procedures are adhered to according to regulations
Qualifications / Experience
- Educated to degree level - preferable but not essential
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Senior leadership role either as an Area Manager, General manager or the equivalent of a multi-operational retail site(s)
